Here’s a list of some of my favorite Louisiana and Southern cookbooks.
Who’s Your Mama, Are You Catholic, and Can You Make A Roux? (Book 1): A Cajun / Creole Family Album Cookbook by Marcelle Bienvenu. This classic cookbook is chock-full of authentic recipes from a Louisiana native, but my favorite parts are the family stories and photographs she includes throughout. Great stuff.
My New Orleans: The Cookbook, by John Besh. John Besh is one of New Orleans’ star restaurateurs, and this first cookbook showcases classic New Orleans and Louisiana recipes along with rich photography and stories of his upbringing.
